Flu Season begins September 1st

Flu Vaccine is recommended for all children up to age 18

The 2010-2011 influenza vaccine is still being developed. It will likely contain both seasonal and H1N1 strains

Nasal flu vaccine is usually available on or about September 1st 

  • Nasal flu vaccine is recommended for children 2 years of age and older who do not have asthma or chronic immune deficiency
  • Nasal flu vaccine is as effective and safe as the injectible version
  • Children generally prefer naasal vaccine because it doesn't hurt

Injectible flu vaccine is usually available in mid to late October

  • Injectible flu vaccine is recommended for children 6 months and older
  • Injectible flu vaccine is recommended for children with asthma or chronic immune deficiency
